Delivery Schedule

Incoming Mail From USPS

Incoming mail from the United States Postal Service (USPS) is scheduled to arrive on campus Monday through Friday by 10:00 a.m. with Express mail arriving by 12:00 p.m. All mail is sorted alphabetically by department/school, not by individuals' names. Therefore, it is very important that mail indicates a department/school in the address.

Outgoing Mail to USPS

All mail requiring postage received by 2:00 p.m. is posted on the same day. The USPS is scheduled to pick up outgoing mail from Postal Services at 12:30 p.m.and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Mail received by Postal Services is metered as First Class or Air Mail unless specified otherwise.

Deliveries

Strategic deliveries to departments/schools made by U.S. Couriers are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM and is usually completed by 2:00 PM. The personnel have been instructed to maintain a consistent delivery route whenever possible. As with the United States Postal Service (USPS), there are occasions when routes and delivery times must be adjusted due to employee absences, vehicle failures, inclement weather, heavy mail volume or late receivership by the university. These circumstances, therefore, prevent the department from committing to a guaranteed daily delivery time.

Re-deliveries of departmental/school mail will not be made the same business day in circumstances where a delivery location is inaccessible or closed. If this occurs, you may be contacted by a representative of CUA Postal Services to make arrangements to pick up the mail in McMahon Hall prior to 4:00 PM. To avoid missing a delivery due to an office closure, post a sign at the normal delivery location directing the Delivery Clerk to an alternate location to make the delivery. A redirected delivery will only be made to the same building and the sign must be posted for each incidence. Areas that wish to redirect their mail due to inaccessibility, such as remodeling or building closure, should contact Mail Processing at extension 5021 prior to 10:00 AM to ensure same day delivery. Partial redirection of mail to a delivery location, complete relocation or the addition of a new delivery location for a department/school will require the approval of the Manager of Postal Services.
